Orthodox Jew Removed from Plane for… Praying???

Jewish cap as salam ‘alaykum,

Paranoia is TOTAL AWARENESS! Or so they neo-cons would have you believe. Below is an article about an orthodox Jew who was removed from a flight because he was praying. They knew he was praying, and were told that he was praying. While it is understood that planes cannot take-off unless all passengers are seated, it is shameful that religious people are treated with such intolerance. While this may come as news to many non-Muslims, Muslims who travel are really not surprised by the Islamophobia created by the Neo-cons which has led them to be harassed for praying in public places.

After seeing a Canadian University remove its prayer room early last year, we should not be surprised if North Americans airlines and institutions begin a ban on religious headscarves in the name of democracy and freedom! Who in the world ever thought that modest dress or prayer could get you arrested? Article below… (more…)

What’s been happening?

classroom as salam ‘alaykum wa rahmatullaah,

Talk about hectic. Since being promoted at my school to HOD and Coordinator it’s been nothing but work, work, work. Add that to my tutoring plus my three Arabic classes per week and I hardly have time for much of anything. (more…)

Adhering to the Sunnah: A Gathering between Shaykh Muhammad ibn Haadee and the Canadian Students of Madeenah

Light as salam ‘alaykum wa rahmatullaah,

Below is a portion of what Shaykh Muhammad ibn Haadee said at a sitting between the Canadian students in Madeenah.

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Haadee (may Allaah preserve him) said:

During these times that we live in, those who speak have become numerous; those who speak with knowledge, truth and adherence [to the Book and the Sunnah], those who speak with desires and evil intentions, and those who speak with ignorance. All three groups are present, and the callers to falsehood are more plentiful.

Do not be deceived that a caller to falsehood is praised, has degrees or a high status in the life of this world, because this is of no significance. What is of significance is whether his speech is in accordance to the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger, may the Salaat and Salaam be upon him, and what his righteous Caliphs and companions were upon – may Allaah be pleased with them all. Two Unexpected Great Blessings in One Night

Rain in date palms As-salam ‘alaykum wa rahmatullaah,

And it is He Who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going before His Mercy (rain). Till when they have carried a heavy-laden cloud, We drive it to a land that is dead, then We cause rain to descend thereon. Then We produce every kind of fruit therewith. Similarly, We shall raise up the dead, so that you may remember or take heed. (Al-A’raf 7:57)  (more…)

Yes, I’m still Alive…

Prophet’s Masjid - Madeenah as salam ‘alaykum wa rahmatullaah,

I know it has been a long time since I wrote. The end of Ramadhan was amazing, my family, some freinds and I got to go to Madeenah and for Taraweeh one of the people we got to pray behind was Shaykh Hudhayfee. It was clear he had a cold but you could tell it was still him. (more…)

Taraweeh in Masjidil-Haraam

Haraam  as salam ‘alaykum wa rahmatullaah,

Ramadhaan is here and I noticed that more people smile and extend the Islaamic salutations. The Muslims are more kind and the neighbours are more neighbourly with one another. I had just gotten home from work when one of my neighbours, a hip-hop listening Saudi youth, knocked on my door. (more…)

The Root Causes Behind the Excessive Differing between Ahlus-Sunnah

split road As salam ‘alaykum wa rahmatullaah,

I read this and found it appropriate in light of the differing that we have witnessed in the West and even in Saudi Arabia. May Allaah protect us and aid the Muslims and may Allaah guide those people who are guilty of what the Shaykh is mentioning to reflect and change their ways.

Reference: The Mannerisms of Differing between Ahlus-Sunnah – revised and introduced by Shaykh `Ubayd al-Jaabiree

I came across a great principle while I was reading a book by al Albaanee dealing with issues where the Ijtihaad of the scholars of Ahlus-Sunnah differs. I wished that the rest of my brothers would join me in benefiting from such beneficial statements, consisting of benefits that are greatly needed in these days of ours, where a lot of differing and splitting is occurring without knowledge or wisdom. Seeing the Muftee…

books as salaam ‘alaykum wa rahmatullaah,

On Tuesday Shaykh Muhammad Maalikee called me; I was surprised because he was one of the speakers at the Uthmaan Ibn ‘Affaan Educational Seminar and because I don’t usually receive phone calls from a Shaykh. He mentioned two of the brothers there had asked for me and wanted to extend the salaams to me, masha’Allaah. Then he asked me, “Are you going to see the muftee tonight?” I was surprised and I said, “I’ll need a ride.” He said, “Call brother H. he is going.” When I called the brother, he wasn’t sure if he was going and said he would call me back. Finally he called me back and we were set to go, I was a little sad because I couldn’t fit my family in the car but I didn’t want to miss this opportunity, my family encouraged me to go, so off I went. The Difference between the Scholar and the Caller

Moon and the Stars
  بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

The Noble Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-’Uthaymeen (May Allaah have Mercy on him) on the difference between a Scholar Aalim) and a Caller (Daee)[1]

Question: What is the difference between a scholar (Aalim) and a caller (Daee) to Islaam?

Answer: The difference between the scholar (Aalim) and the caller to Islaam (Daee)  is clear. The Daee (caller) is one who strives to convey the message of the Shareeah to Allaah’s servants. He calls them to it, sometimes by means of targheeb (encouragement) and tarheeb (deterring). (more…)

Republican Candidate calls for the Bombing of Makkah and Madeenah

nuke as salam ‘alaykum,

Today’s biggest Islamophobe on the planet nomination goes to possibly the biggest fool in the history of U.S. politics! (no, not Bush) Talk about painting all Muslims with one brush!! Of-course, this would not serve to radicalize any more Muslims in the U.S. or abroad, or serve to unite Muslim countries as Makkah and Madeenah host numerous visitors at almost every time of the year from multiple countries. No, just bomb these sites as a “deterrent to prevent Islamic fundamentalists from attacking the United States…” I am certain many non-violent Muslims would respond to pleas for assistance from Saudi Arabia were such a thing to happen, here’s the kicker Tom, Muslims are not afraid to die from such terrorist attacks, insha’Allaah. The Muslims will not be intimidated by acts of U.S. terrorism, insha’Allaah. Article follows… (more…)
